If you played Grow A Garden in Roblox for any amount of time, you’ve probably heard people mention or talk about the Chicken Zombie. Or maybe you saw it on someone else’s farm, a very cute but yet very creepy chicken that glows green. And if you’re like most players, your first thought was something like:
“Okay, what is that—and how do I get one?”
Well, then let’s look up close, because the answer to it is very complicated. The Chicken Zombie (or Chicken Jockey, as some players call it) isn’t your average pet. You can’t buy it. You can’t grind for it. And unless you were in the right place at the right time, you might’ve already missed your shot at getting one the easy way.
But don’t worry, we will look at all of them, no confusing stuff at all… only information that you will need!
🐔 So, What’s the Deal With the Chicken Zombie?
First of all, this is not just a random bird that you can just show off to other people.
The Chicken Zombie, is the pet in Grow A Garden that actually does stuff. If you got even one of them on your farm, they give you two intersting bonuses:
- Zombified Crops – Every 30 seconds or so, your Chicken Zombie has about a 1 in 5 chance to zombify one of your plants. When that happens, the plant starts glowing green and dripping goo (yeah, it’s as gross-cool as it sounds). And here’s the best part: those zombified crops sell for 25 times the normal price. Yup, you read that right. Not double. Not 10x. Twenty-five times. A crop that usually sells for 500 coins? Now worth 12,500. It’s wild.
- Faster Egg Hatching – All your eggs hatch about 10% faster when you’ve got a Chicken Zombie hanging out on your farm. It might not sound huge, but if you’re breeding pets regularly, that extra speed really adds over time.
So yes, it is not just a random cool looking chicken, is actually a big deal.
🕒 How Did People Get It?
And here we are, this is where everything gets very complicated.
The Chicken Zombie was only available during a one-time event on May 17. That’s why if you were online during this large update and before that, and I mean literally moments before—you got to see a special in-game cutscene. Watch the cutscene? Boom, you got a free Chicken Zombie.
But if you logged in just a little too late, even a few minutes after the update went live? You missed it. No pet for you this time, but maybe next time.
Honestly, it is kinda upsetting.. Because there was no warning or anything, it all just kinda happened in a moment. And unless you are a regular player who is playing this game a lot, there was no way to accept it in time.
🤝 Can You Still Get One?
Thankfully answer is yes, but you have to do a trade for it.
Since the event is over, Chicken Zombie was never actually released in eggs. The only possible way is to find a player who has it and try to make an offer for them. Keep in mind, there is a possibility you can be scammed for your valuable stuff, that’s why you should be careful with whom you are trusting. Since at this moment, the game does not have a non-scam system of trade. That’s why it is all basically your trust.
Here are some trading posibilities:
1. the Grow A Garden Discord Server
This is probably your best bet. The official server has a whole section just for trading, and there are plenty of players talking deals every day. You can find the link on the Grow A Garden page in Roblox. , post in the trading channel, and see who’s interested.
2. Ask Around In-Game
Sometimes players are open to trading right in the chat. Just don’t spam. Something like “Anyone trading a Chicken Zombie? I’ve got rares!” is enough. If someone’s willing, they’ll let you know.
3. Bring Something Worth Trading
And here’s the honest truth—you’ll need to offer something good. Like, really good. This pet is rare and incredibly valuable, so expect to trade high-tier pets, loads of in-game currency, or other event-limited items. No one’s giving up their Chicken Zombie for a common tomato and a smile.
🚨 A Quick Word on Scammers
Because this pet is so rare, it’s become prime bait for scammers.
- Don’t trade outside the official game or Discord server.
- Don’t fall for “trust trades” (where someone says, “Give me your pet first and I’ll give you mine after”—just don’t).
- Always double-check what you’re getting before you confirm a trade.
🎉 Final Thoughts
Look, if you’re lucky enough to have one of these weird little guys on your farm, enjoy it. Seriously. You’ve got one of the coolest and most powerful pets in the game.
And if you’re still hunting for one, don’t give up. Keep farming, keep trading, and stay active in the community. The right deal will come along. And when you finally get your Chicken Zombie? It’ll be so worth it.
Good luck—and happy zombifying!
